Ruth M.L. Williams, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October24, 2024, with her family lovingly by her side. She was 95 years old.
Born on April 5 1929, Ruth was the third daughter of Wilhemina Wheaton Long. She often shared heartwarming stories of her childhood growing up in Grand Lake Stream, painting vivid pictures of life during the Great Depression and World War II. Her early experiences shaped her resilient spirit and deep appreciation for family.
Ruth dedicated over 30 years of her life to the United States Postal Service, with 25 of those years serving the community in Baileyville. Her commitment and work ethic were evident in all that she did, earning her respect and admiration from every individual she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Ally Long, a devoted homemaker, and Jean Nason, a proud real estate agent and veteran of the U.S. Air Force during WWII; and her mother, “Grammie Billy,” who was renowned for her exceptional culinary skills, especially her breads and desserts, delighting many during her tenure at the old lodges in Grand Lake Stream from the early 1930s until 1976.
Ruth's spirit lives on through her loving family: her son, Carl “Rocky” Williams and wife Tori; her granddaughter, Tara; her grandson, Keith and wife Kyra; as well as her great-grandson, Jaidyn, and two great-granddaughters, Brayli and Kensley. Each one carries a piece of her heart, and her legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire them.
Ruth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A graveside service will be planned for the summer of 2025 to honor her remarkable life. Arrangements are being handled by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
