Obituary for Samuel Booth Barlow

Calais – Samuel Booth Barlow, 90, died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at an Ellsworth hospital. Samuel was born in Calais, September 6, 1915, son of the late Samuel and Georgia (Cookson) Barlow. He served in the US Army during WWII with the 711 Tank Battalion in the Pacific Theatre. Samuel was employed with Northeast Industries in Calais for 20 years, then as a custodian with Mammoth Mart, later called Ames, for 20 years. He was a proud member of the Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion of Calais for over 38 years and enjoyed movies, reading, fishing, family gatherings, and his faithful canine companion, “Pee Wee”, whom he took everywhere. Samuel was predeceased by his loving wife, Louise (McInnis) Barlow in 1976. Surviving are his children, John Barlow of Millis, Mass, Samuel Barlow Jr. and wife Shirley of Yorktown, VA, Timothy Barlow and wife Beverly of Ellsworth, Jeffrey Barlow and wife Wanda of Baileyville, and Georgia Hess and husband Eric of Galax, VA; five grandchildren, Robbie, Samuel III, Michael, Justine, and Wesley Barlow; two step grandsons, Bradley and Matthew Hess; four great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Avis McIntyre of Baileyville.
