Sipayik – Samuel J. “Huggie” Neptune Sr., 63, beloved husband and son, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Huggie was born in Eastport on October 20, 1958, son of Joseph R. Neptune Sr. and Genevieve A. (Francis) Neptune.
In his youth, Huggie was a senior Boy Scout. He will always be remembered for his love of carpentry. He loved doing intricate work that most would find tedious. Huggie loved cross-country running and was recognized for his natural running ability, winning the All-State Championship representing Higgins Classical Institute. He loved traveling, classical country music, and his favorite sprots teams were the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed walking down the trail and the beach, working outside, sitting on his back deck and listening to his favorite country artists. He was well known for his kindness and storytelling. He also loved to spend time with his family and close friends. Most of all, he will always be remembered for his laughter. His laughter will echo throughout the heavens for all of eternity.
Huggie will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Pamela (Francis) Neptune; his parents; his children Kimberly A. Neptune, Samuel J. Neptune Jr and partner Theresa, Samantha Robb and partner Joshua, daughter-in-law April Nicholas and husband/nephew John, and Melissa Francis; his grandchildren Kira, Louie, Henri, Bryce and Lyla; his brother and most cherished uncle Gene W. Francis Sr. and wife Bernadette; siblings Pearl A. Pulk and husband Alfred, Jean M. Stanley and husband Phillip, Susan C. Neptune, and Joseph R. Neptune Jr. and wife Jennifer; aunt Betty Lewey and husband Sabattus; aunt Gloria J. Kelly and husband William, uncle Sabatis Neptune and wife Brenda, and aunt Annabelle Bassett; Godfather Ralph Francis Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Huggie was predeceased by a sister Arlene (Neptune) Wiggins; Grandmother Alice C. Francis; Godmother Blanche Sockabasin; as well as James A. Neptune Sr., James A. Neptune Jr., Peter Dana, Virginia (Francis) Aymond, Alessa Nicholas, Christopher Francis, Abigail Francis, Ryan Newell Jr. and Daniel Kelly.
Visitation will be held at his home, 18 Ball Park Rd., Pleasant Point from 12 noon Tuesday, February 1, 2022 until 9 a.m. Thursday, February 3. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Brad Morin 10 a.m. Thursday, February 3 at St. Joseph Church, 51 Washington St., Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
