Sandra Michelle Copeland, age 63, was unexpectedly called to her heavenly home on Monday, April 3, 2023.

Sandra Michelle was born March 23, 1960, as the second child, and firstborn daughter to US Army Captain Gerald Lee White and Sarah “Sally” Langley LaBoon in Neubruecke, Germany. She grew up in the Northern Virginia area, graduating from James W. Robinson High School in 1978 where she was active in marching band and choir. Sandra, lovingly known over the years as “Sandi”, “Shelley”, and “Michelle”, then went on further explore her passion for music at Ferrum College and Westminster Choir College where she earned degrees of Fine Arts majoring in Music Education. 

A woman of many talents, she was also known for her connection with animals. Sandra absolutely adored dogs and bred, raised, trained and showed several breeds over the years, her favorite being the Borzoi, also known as the Russian Wolfhound. She treasured their gentle, elegant nature and calm, affectionate temperament. 

Sandra conceived, designed, owned and operated her own business, Shenandoah Pet Supply, out of two different locations in Strasburg, Virginia and Woodstock, Virginia before embarking on a career with the United States Postal Service starting off as a seasonal clerk and excelling into a Supervisor role, a position she proudly held for over a decade before retiring.

She married the love of her life, Darrell Leon Copeland on July 3, 2004 at their home in Maurertown, Virginia and in 2014 they fulfilled their dream of retiring to Maine and moved to Princeton where they spent their time together fishing and strengthening their faith in the Lord. 

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband just five months prior. She is survived by her namesake aunt Sandra (Hans) Fluger, siblings Eric R (Ann) White, Scott W White, Shannon L White, daughter Jessica (Kevin) Robbins Johnson, as well as nieces, nephews, and two grandsons. 

A private memorial was held by the immediate family, but those wishing to express their sympathies can consider a contribution to the Woodland Baptist Church of Baileyville, Maine in her memory.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
