Calais – Sandra Louise Severance, 77, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Calais with her family by her side. Sandra was born in Calais on January 16, 1935, daughter of the late Ivan and Alice (Cody) Murphy. She graduated from Calais Memorial High School and soon after married Neil F. Severance on December 26, 1954 in Calais. After traveling for a few years due to Neil’s job, she started working for the A&P in Calais, where she was employed for 16 years. Sandra then became a clerk for the Irving Convenience Store and worked there for another 16 years. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Neil F. Severance in 1999; three sisters, Rita Graffman , Eileen Burnette, and Connie Smith; and one brother Francis Murphy. Surviving are her two children, Larry Severance and his wife Linda of Calais, and Debra DelMonaco of Augusta; four grandchildren, Joshua DelMonaco and his wife Caroline of Bangor, Erika Lebel and her husband Mike of Eddington, Chad Moreside and his wife Jami of Calais, and Benjamin DelMonaco and his companion Ashley Billups of Hermon; four great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Madison and Kassidy Lebel, and Jaxson Moreside; one sister, Francina Pelletier of Calais; two sisters-in-law, Rita Severance and Irene Hunnewell; two brothers-in-law, Merl Smith and Elwin Severance; special friends Sharon and Ella Robinson; and many special nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais with Fr. James Plourde, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery. Donations in Sandra’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
