EASTPORT – Shirley C. Mullen, 74, passed away in Bangor on April 7, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada on July 21, 1938. Shirley was the daughter of Edith and William Foran and special couple, Celia and Ernest Peterson. She attended Carleton County Community College, graduating class of 1957 and then went on to attend Zion Bible Institute graduating in 1960. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish R.C. Church in Eastport where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed knitting, loved to watch the Boston Red Sox and her kids and grandkids sports events but the love of Shirley’s life was raising her 5 children, she enjoyed every moment spent with family. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her siblings, including a special brother and sister, David MacIntyre and Ardean Kearney. Surviving are her children, Chris Mullen, Robert “Bobby” Mullen, both of Eastport, Jennifer Patterson and her husband Robert, of Perry, Brian Mullen and his wife Juanita, of Hermon and Jonathan Mullen and his wife Kristin of Blue Hill; 8 special grandchildren, Megan and Vanessa Patterson, of Perry, Amber, Garrett, River and Cameron of Hermon and Sarah and Ryan of Blue Hill. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10th at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11th at St. Joseph’s, 51 Washington St., Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastport Nursing Home “Van Fund”, 23 Boynton St., Eastport, ME 04631 or the Shead Athletic Boosters Club, 89 High St., Eastport, ME 04631.
