Obituary for Terrence Driscoll

Calais and Windham – Terrence “Terry” Patrick Driscoll, 78, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home in Windham surrounded by all his loving family. Terry was born in St. Stephen, NB on January 7, 1937 to Francis and Charlene Driscoll. He lived most of his life in Calais but in the later years moved to Windham to be nearer the children and grandchildren. Terry attended the Immaculate Conception Parochial School in Calais and after graduating from Calais Memorial High School in 1954 he joined the U.S. Air Force. After his service, Terry returned to Calais where he started building and operating a Service Station/ Body Shop and Restaurant. On November 23, 1959, he married Laurette A. Babineau of Milltown, NB.

Through the years, Terry worked as a Brakeman for Maine Central Railroad, Mail Carrier for the Calais Post Office, and 17 years as Superintendent of Building, Grounds and Transportation for the Calais School Department. Terry was also very involved with the Calais Fire Department where he started as a volunteer in 1964. Through the years he held the office of President of the Maine State Federation of Firefighters, was a Fire Fighting Instructor for Washington County, served as Assistant Fire Chief and retired as Captain for the Calais Fire Department. Terry was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais and recently a Communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham. He also was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus St. Croix Council #149 in Calais.

Terry was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Charlene Driscoll; a brother Joseph and his wife Jacqueline; and a sister Jean McFadyen and her husband Harry. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Laurette Driscoll; his four children Denise Tozier and her husband Scott of Clarksville, TN, Patrick Driscoll and his wife Elaine of Yarmouth, Maureen Hayward and her husband Mike of Baileyville, and Margaret Clark and her husband Eric of Windham; grandchildren, Joshua of Lakeland, FL, Jake of Tacoma, WA, Amber of Palestine, TX, Jordan and husband Cody of Yarmouth, Suzanne of Yarmouth, Kyle and Katy of Bangor, Kelsey of Robbinston, Taylor of Baileyville, Haley of Baileyville, Drew of Baileyville, Casey of Windham, and Nicole of Windham; three great-grandchildren, Cedric, AuBree, and Olivia; two brothers, David Driscoll and his wife Jeanette of Westbrook, and Thomas Driscoll and his wife Shelby of Windham; and many nieces and nephews.

Terry will be remembered as a dedicated family man and because of his love for family and life he made himself a fighter.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Calais Cemetery. Following the service, a time of fellowship will be held at St. Croix No. 1 Fire House on Church St. in Calais. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
