PEMBROKE – Thomas H. Johnson, 76, passed away peacefully at a Bangor Hospital on December 16, 2012. Tom was born October 25, 1936 in East Providence, RI, son of Carlton and Dorothy (Blaney) Johnson. He attended school in Swansea, MA, graduating from Joseph Case High School, class of 1955 and then served his country in the Army National Guard. Tom was an avid race car fan; he loved NASCAR and small track races. He owned several of his own cars racing mostly at Seekonk Race Track in Seekonk, MA. Tom was a hard worker and dedicated to his excavation company, TH Johnson Excavation; when he did get time away from work Tom enjoyed sneaking off to go fishing. Tom married Patience Gray in Somerset, MA on June 4, 1985. After moving to Pembroke and opening his shop, Pembroke Antiques, he and Patience enjoyed traveling around in search of treasures for the shop. Tom loved chatting with all those who stopped to browse, but his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family. Tom was a kind and gentle man, caring and thoughtful; he will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife, Patience Johnson; six children, Kristen E. Johnson, of Fall River, MA, Stacy E. Sexton, of Brush Prairie, WA, Wendy L. Pollard, of Queen Creek, AZ, Rebekah L. Kershaw, of Swansea, MA, Kenneth C. Chalk, of Washington D.C., and Charles D. Chalk, of Somerset, MA; two brothers, Carlton and Harold Johnson, both of MA; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including Lauren Johnson whom he was very close with and his canine companion, Buddy. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29th at Mays Funeral Home-Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport with Pastor Gary Kinney officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Light Farm Equine Shelter, 576 Shore Rd., Perry, ME 04667 or PAWS Brave Hearts, 368 South St., Calais, ME 04619.
