Pleasant Point – Timothy J. Newell Sr., 77, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at a Bangor Hospital. Tim was born in Pleasant Point, August 30, 1930, son of the late John Newell and Evelyn Mitchell. He served in the U.S. Army, a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tim married Ursula Stanley in 1961. He will be remembered as being very involved with Beatrice Rafferty School on Pleasant Point. Tim was employed as a school bus driver for over 25 years and was a member of the school board. He loved and supported the children in his community by attending all of their sporting events around the state. Tim loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a former Lt. Governor for Pleasant Point. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Michael Wilson; two grandsons, Ryan Newell Jr. and Levi Wilson; a sister, Margaret Bailey; and two brothers, George Moore and Aloysius Newell. Surviving are his wife Ursula; four sons and four daughters, Ryan Newell Sr. and his wife Lisa, Louis Newell and his companion Tristin Phillips, TJ Newell, Molly Newell and her companion Birda Downing and Rena Newell, all of Pleasant Point, Joseph Newell Sr. and his companion Jill Perkins of Glenburn, and Evelyn Newell and Frances Mershon and her husband Greg, both of Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Molly Minno of Calais; a special nephew, Wayne Newell and his wife Sandy of Indian Township; a special niece, Adele Moore and her husband Gary of Pleasant Point; a close friend, Mike Chadwick of Calais; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Mass in Memoriam will be celebrated by Father Eugene Gaffey 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, at St. Ann Church, Pleasant Point. Tim’s request was to be remembered as he was; therefore, there will be no viewing or last supper, and scattering of his remains over Passamaquoddy Bay will be done privately and at a later date.
