Valmond Y. LeBlanc

Vanceboro – Valmond Y. LeBlanc, 77, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 2, 2014. Valmond was born in Saint-Antoine, NB, on July 7, 1937, the eldest of ten children to the late Emery and Alice (Goguen) LeBlanc. He left school at the age of 14 to work on a farm and learned the auto mechanic trade. Valmond moved to Massachusetts to work as an auto mechanic until eventually settling in Vanceboro. He owned and operated Val’s Garage in Vanceboro and plowed the town’s roads for 25years. Valmond was also a snowmobile dealer, heavy equipment operator, and a hunting guide. He always commented that he was a “Jack of all trades”. Valmond loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and puttering in his garage. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias.

In addition to his parents, Valmond was predeceased by a son-in-law Raymond Fahey; sister-in-law Noella LeBlanc; and a brother-in-law Hector LeBlanc. Surviving are his special friend Stella; nine children, Annette Fahey of Moncton, NB, Raymond LeBlanc and wife Geraldine of Salem, NB, Michel LeBlanc of Salem, NB, Ronald LeBlanc of Moncton, NB, Marie Toma and husband Terry of Spruce Grove, AB, Corinne Schmitt of Innisfail, AB, Claudette LeBlanc and companion Tim of St. Lazare, NB, Dennis Dyer and wife Rose of Vanceboro, and Patty Cook and fiancé Scott Ferguson of Baring; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florine Lirette, Huberte Cormier and husband Gerald, Florence LeBlanc, Carmella Poirier and husband Robert, and Wilma Despres and husband Maurice; brothers Leonard LeBlanc, Orice LeBlanc and wife Marie, Elery LeBlanc and wife Theresa, and Lionel LeBlanc and wife Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Valmond’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Vanceboro United Methodist Church, 63 High St., Vanceboro. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
