Alexander – Vance E. Webber, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Togus. Vance was born on March 24, 1947 to Wyman and Edith (Libby) Webber in Waterville. He joined the United States Army in July of 1966 for two years, and reenlisted in 1970, where he worked as a supply specialist earning the rank of E4 and later awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Vance enjoyed working on cars and driving them but above all he loved his family, country and flag. He was a past member of the N.R.A., the I.O.O.F. and King Solomon’s Lodge #61 A.F. & A.M. of Waldoboro.
In addition to his parents, Vance was predeceased by his sisters, Kathy Jones and Betty Bell; and a brother, Irving Wright. He will be remembered by his wife of over 39 years, Barbara (Williams) Webber; his children, Steven Webber of Rockport and April Webber of Calais; five sisters, Carol McLaughlin and her husband Mac of Maine, Cleo Faircloth, Alice Eldridge, Pat Watmough and her husband Mike, all of Florida, Louise Goodreau and her husband Herbert, of Maine; two brothers, Boyd Webber and his wife Viola and Keith Webber and his wife Donna, all of Maine and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at Unit 71, 72, and 73 at Togus for their excellent care given to Vance. A heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Togus for their dedication to the health and wellbeing of our veterans
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Alexander Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
