Vaughn Bigger, 85, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Vaughn was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on February 8, 1938, son of Robert and Jean (Sharpe) Bigger.
Vaughn attended school in McAdam and on August 10, 1957, married Roma Lane. He enlisted in the Canadian Army, serving with the Royal Canadian Regiment for three years, and then the Black Watch in New Brunswick for another three years. Following his service, Vaughn and Roma moved to Massachusetts where he worked as a machine operator for Hydes Manufacturing, and later building construction. Eventually they moved to Maine and settled in Vanceboro. Vaughn worked in the woods as a cutter until he retired. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and hunting.
In addition to his parents Robert and Jean, he was predeceased by a son Randy Bigger; siblings Gary, Arlington, Merle, Ersyl, Cecil, Elwin, James, Gerald, Kathleen, Shirley, Eunice, and Phyllis; and a son-in-law Richard Catore. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Roma Bigger; four children, Vaughn R. Bigger and wife Noleen of Saint Marys, GA, Catherine Cature of Bangor, Michael Bigger and wife Mary of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Johnathan Bigger and wife Cassandra of Danforth; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
