Victor E. Alley, was born in Jonesport, Maine, on June 30, 1937. He passed away, on March 15, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine, from complications of Influenza and Pneumonia, surrounded by his family. Victor led a fulfilling life dedicated to GOD, his family, his career, and his country.
Victor married the love of his life, Sharron S. Hendon from Ontario, California, on March 23, 1959, in Jonesport, Maine, in the same house that he was born in and is still in the family. Next, week they would have been married for 65 years!
Victor along with his wife, Sharron, have been in the wonderful care of the staff and professionals at the Maine Veterans Home in Machias, Maine from September 2022 until his passing.
In 1958, Victor began his service in the United States Air Force, where he served with honor, retiring in 1978 with the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSgt). After traveling around the world, Victor returned to his beloved Maine and a view of the Moosabec Reach, which he considered the best place on earth. After his military career, he went on to own and operate Moosabec Marine from 1978 to 1998, initially with his brother Leemie, specializing in fixing and repairing Mercury Outboard motors and McCulloch chainsaws. He was affectionately known to many as "Victor, Victor, the Mercury Fixer".
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Victor had a passion for family history and could recount stories of numerous relatives and their relationships. His love for puzzles and brain games showcased his sharp mind and keen intellect.
Victor had an unwavering faith in GOD. He believed in the atoning death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He received the promise of an eternal life with the Lord and is now experiencing it for himself. Victor was baptized in water and in the Spirit fulfilling the direction given in Gospel of St John 3:3-5 and the example of Jesus himself. He attended Cherryfield Pentecostal Church for many years and most recently, while in the Maine Veterans Home in Machias, Maine, he and Sharron were faithful members of Apostolic Grace Fellowship in Fremont, Nebraska.
One of Victor's proudest achievements was his loving family. He cherished spending time with them and creating lifelong memories. Victor is survived by his devoted wife Sharron; his children David (and Donna) Alley from Maidsville, West Virginia, Mark Alley from Hermon, Maine, Phillip (and Shawnelle) Alley from Fremont, Nebraska, Sondra (and Wayne) Small from Jonesport, Maine; his grandchildren Jaimie Alley, Allysson (and Steve) Castonguay, Adam (and Jenna) Alley, Marileigh Alley, Michelle (and Sam) Gossett, Justin (and Jennifer) Alley, Joey Meglis, Melanie (and fiancé Will) Meglis, Melissa Rodrick, Wayne Jr. (and Kelly) Small, Aaron Small, Janice (and Mikoo) Small, Rose Small; many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Victor was predeceased by his father and mother, Leman L. Sr. and Mary S. Alley, brother and sister-in-law, Leeman L. Jr. and Sylvia Alley, sisters, Alice Ellen Alley (died in infancy) and Alice B. Alley, half-brother and sister-in-law, Llewellyn and Stella Sadler, half-sister, Dorothy Alley; daughter-in-law, Loudell Alley and grandson Timothy Alley.
Victor will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and for the impact he made in the lives of those around him. His legacy of love and commitment will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, Victor, husband, Dad, Grampy - your memory will forever remain in our hearts.
Funeral Service will be at the Cherryfield Pentecostal Church, Cherryfield, Maine at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 21, 2024, where Military Honors will be rendered. Visitation with family, one hour before, at 10:00AM. Internment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport, Maine. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
