Eastport – Vincent H. Lodge Jr., 73, passed away Tuesday, October 07, 2014 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor. Vincent was born in St. Stephen, NB, on July 28, 1941, son of American parents Elaine B. and Vincent H. Lodge Sr. of Eastport. Vincent graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June, 1959 and served until June of 1963. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 1963, the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Vincent served for two and one half years in Vietnam. He was highly decorated for his service. He served on the USS Jewett, USS Ranger, and USS Raleigh along with duty stations in Guam, San Diego, and several shore duty stations, the last being Combat Wings Atlantic at Brunswick, ME. After serving 23 years, Vincent retired from the US Navy in June of 1984.
In addition to his parents, Vincent was predeceased by a sister Joan. He is survived by two nieces, Cindy Moss, and Deborah Trythall; a nephew, Michael Foster; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vincent’s memory may be made to either Maine Veterans Home of Bangor, 44 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME 04401, or United Veteran Honor Guard of Washington County, c/o Richard Bowen270 Canon Hill Rd., Perry, ME 04667.
