Robbinston – Violet Susan DiLeo, 57, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at her home with her loving family by her side. Susan was born in Calais on October 9, 1953, daughter of Roland and Violet (Chandler) Beek. Her parents moved to Cambridge in 1956 where she met her loving husband. On November 21, 1970, she married Anthony DiLeo in Somerville, MA. Susan and Anthony eventually moved to Maine, residing in Calais where they raised their two children. They moved to Robbinston in 1999 where they built a home together. She was a devoted mom and grandmother. Susan spent endless days doing whatever she could to make her children and grandchildren happy. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, camping and most importantly spending time with her family. Susan was predeceased by her mother, Violet Beek; and grandmother Ethel May Chandler. Surviving are her father Roland Beek of Calais; her loving husband of 39 years, Anthony DiLeo; her two children, Anthony DiLeo Jr., and Aimee (DiLeo) Morrell and her husband Michael, all of Robbinston; two sisters, Sara Willette of Calais and Tina Heald and her husband Keith of Enfield; two brothers, Roland and Troy Beek, of Calais; seven grandchildren, Anthony DiLeo III, Autumn DiLeo, Christopher DiLeo, Natasha and Nichole Nicholson, and Asa and Evan Morrell, all of Robbinston; 12 nieces; 8 nephews; and her two faithful canine companions, Cricket and Bella. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt who fought a brave battle for many years against breast cancer. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, with Father James Plourde officiating.
