Virginia Marie Culligan (Gravesen)

Calais – Virginia Marie Culligan, 90, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at Calais Regional Hospital. Virginia was born in St. Stephen on March 8, 1924, daughter of Christian and Jennie (Peterson) Gravesen. After graduating from high school, she went through nurse’s training in St. Stephen and worked as a nurse for Chipman Memorial Hospital as well as in the Calais area. In 1950, she married Henry “Bert” Culligan. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband Bert in 2013. She is survived by several cousins, nephews, and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Church St., Calais. Burial will be held in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
