Calais – Virginia G. Grant, 83, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at a Calais hospital. Virginia was born in Calais, August 20, 1922, daughter of the late Wallace and Mabel (Gibson) Greenlaw. She was retired from Ware Knitters, where she was employed for many years as a stitcher. Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milltown, Happy Gang Senior Citizens Group and the Seniority Group, both of Calais. She had a love for animals and enjoyed shopping, reading, and spending time with her family. Virginia was predeceased by a son, Bernard L. Grant in 1985; a grandson, Leslie Knowles; three brothers, Norman, Carl, and Parker Greenlaw; and two sisters, Flora Smith and Marion Robbins. Surviving are a son; George Grant and his wife Vicki of Alexander; seven grandchildren, Pam Ramsay and husband David of Calais, Georgina Pryor of Houlton, Wendy Boles of Houlton, Virginia Grant of Meddybemps, Bernard Grant of Lubec, Betty Jean Wallace and husband Joseph of Alexander, and George Knowles of Baring; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
