Bradley & Eastport – Walter “Rufus” B. Ramsdell Jr. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at a Bangor hospital. Rufus was born in Eastport on October 10, 1946, son of the late Walter and Gladys Ramsdell. He graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1965. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a motor pool mechanic from 1967 to 1969. Rufus owned and operated Ramsdell’s Garage in Calais for many years. He was an active member of the Lions Club and the Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion of Calais. Rufus is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia A. Ramsdell; his children Troy Ramsdell of Calais, Kevin Ramsdell of Windham, Wally Ramsdell and his wife Kim of Eddington, and Jaime McInnis and her husband Chip of Bradley; six grandsons, TJ, Chad, Dustin, Nick, Devon and Dylan; three granddaughters, Britney, Katie and Danielle; two brothers, Gary Ramsdell and his wife Cleo of Eastport, and Ricky Ramsdell and his wife Katie of Perry; many nieces and nephews; and extended friends and family.
