Warren “Matt” Lewey
Indian Township – Warren Matthew Lewey, 45, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 27, 2010. Matt was born in Chicago, IL on September 5, 1964, son of Harold and Dorris (Hoffner) Lewey. He graduated from Calais High School and received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Granite State University in New Hampshire. Matt owned and operated Coastal Environmental in Bangor and worked for Indian Township Tribal Government with economic development. Most recently he was a manager of Creative Apparel. Matt enjoyed fishing, canoeing, playing guitar and spending time with his family and friends, especially his children. He was predeceased by his mother Dorris Lewey; paternal grandparents Athion and Delia (Mitchell) Lewey; and his maternal grandmother Maggie Socoby. Surviving are his father Harold Lewey of Indian Township; his fiancé Rosalie Stevens of Indian Township; four children, Shane and Aneea Lewey of Indian Township; Heidi Vey of Bangor, and Veronica of Canada; two sisters, Martha Lewey and her husband Joseph Pilon of Prescott, AZ, and Cheyenne Lewey of Indian Township; and a brother Gordon Newell of Baileyville. Visiting hours will begin 10 a.m. Sunday, May 30, at the Elderly Meal Site, Route 1, Indian Township, until 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 1. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Plourde 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann R.C. Church, Peter Dana Point. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
