Wayne Townsend Claridge, aged 82, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Born on September 12, 1942, in Hartford, CT, Wayne was the son of Willard and Charlotte (Townsend) Claridge.
Wayne graduated from Calais Memorial High School and dedicated 46 years of service to the paper mill, where he forged lasting friendships and made a significant impact. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, and he loved golfing and automobiles, especially antique cars. On November 25, 1972, he celebrated a wonderful union in marriage with his beloved wife, Sue Chaffee, in Calais.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by a son Craig Fenderson; and a sister Gayle Lindsay. Surviving are his devoted wife, Sue Claridge; children Catherine Stone and husband David, Crista Lukoski and husband Scott, Cherilyn Palmer and husband Dean, and Troy Claridge and companion Michele; daughter-in-law Jonalyn Fenderson; grandchildren Hannah, Jackson, Dominique, Dustin, Grant, Paige, Tessa, and Jenna; great-grandchildren Roman, Kellan, Novaleigh, Elizabeth, Mar, and Elisio; brother-in-law Pastor Ron Chaffee and wife Susan; a niece Joell Lindsay; nephews Jon and William Lindsay, and Rodney, Nathan, and Jason Chaffee; and special cousins, Sheila and Bert Claridge, Gerald and Carol Claridge, and Linda and Cathy Hardy.
