Obituary for Wendy Sue Smith

Robbinston – Wendy Sue Smith, 53, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Wendy was born in Presque Isle on June 13, 1959, daughter of Wendell and Persis (Boyles) Mooers. She graduated from Shead High School in Eastport, Class of 1977, and furthered her education at Beals College in Bangor and Washington County Community College in Calais, where she earned her Associates Degree in Computers. She started her career as an insurance agent with Sentinal Insurance in Eastport and Baileyville, and most recently was employed at the Varney Agency in Calais. On June 23, 1990, she married Jeffrey Smith in Eastport. Wendy was Past Worthy Advisor for the Rainbow Girls, a 34 year member of the Pythian Sisters Seaside Temple in Eastport. She was Past Grand Junior at the Grand Temple of Maine and currently the director for the Pythian Sisters Home Association. She was a leader for Weight Watchers in Calais, a marathon walker, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Wendy was predeceased by her father Wendell Mooers. Surviving are her loving husband Jeffrey Smith of Robbinston; her mother Persis Mooers of Eastport; three children, James Mitchell IV and his wife Jaime of Pembroke and their children Kristina, Katelyn and James, Jeffrey Smith II and his wife Tabitha of Baileyville and their children Halie, Jaydn and Riley, and Jason Smith and his wife Mindy of Calais and their children Mackenzie and Mikah; two sisters, Laurie Young and her husband Kim of Eastport, and Peggy Mooers and her companion Charles Michaud of Searsport; three brothers, Randy Mooers of Howland, Douglas Mooers and his wife Susan of Edmunds, and Blynn Mooers of Tampa, FL; her father-in-law & mother-in-law Bob and Pat Bishop of Calais; brother-in-law Dana Smith of Calais; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and dear friends. A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Brewer Cemetery in Robbinston. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
