Calais – William “Beetle” Bailey, 58, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Calais Regional Hospital. Beetle was born in Portsmouth, VA, son of the late William and Marjorie (O’Neil) Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry, during the Vietnam War. Beetle was employed as a painter for Georgia-Pacific for many years. He was President for Downeast Chapter of Exiles M.C. and enjoyed riding motorcycles and collecting knives and swords. Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Bailey; his daughter, Jessica Bailey and Paul Hall of Eastport; three step-children, Gregory Francis and wife Nicole, Francis Burgess, and Arietta Breton and husband Jeremy, all of Gardiner; his twin sister, Catherine Scullin of Lawrence Station, N.B.; three brothers, Paul Spear of Calais, and Randy and Danny Bailey, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Josalyn Hall and Noah Haddock; five step-grandchildren, Gia and Keigan Francis; Owen and Ronnie Breton, and Morgan Burgess; three nephews, Jamie Scullin, and John and Dan Spear; and his faithful canine companions, Star, Duke, and Precious.
