William Raymond “Bill” McLaughlin, aged 71, departed this life on October 30, 2024, at his cherished home, surrounded by the love of family. Born on June 23, 1953, in Calais, he was the son of William and Arlene (Ellsmore) McLaughlin.
Bill's journey began in the halls of Woodland High School, and for over 25 years, he used his skills as a crane operator at the stud mill. Following its closure, he adapted and thrived, embracing the road as a truck driver for Curtis Trucking until his well-earned retirement. In 1974, he united in marriage with his beloved Vickie Griffin, embarking on a journey filled with love and partnership spanning five decades.
An ardent outdoorsman, Bill found joy in the pursuits of hunting, fishing, and trapping. He possessed a warm sense of humor, often delighting in good-natured teasing, but above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will forever echo in their hearts.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, a son, Tony McLaughlin; a sister, Brenda Scott; and a brother, David McLaughlin. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Vickie McLaughlin; a daughter, Jodi MacArthur and her husband Creston of Princeton; four grandchildren, Shawn Adams of Baileyville, Nicholas Adams of Augusta, Emily MacArthur of Princeton, and William McLaughlin and his companion Lacey Woodside of Baileyville; as well as three great-grandchildren, Rylie Adams, and Ansleigh and Bennett McLaughlin. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Newman and her husband Larry of Baileyville; a brother, Stephen McLaughlin and his wife Jeanene of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and two dear friends, Paul Hood and Richard Curtis.
In honoring Bill’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, a testament to a life well-lived.
