William Blair Urquhart, 93, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home surrounded by family. Buddy was born in Bangor on December 29, 1930, son of William and Zelma (Dinsmore) Urquhart.
Buddy grew up in Eastport and graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1949. During the Korean War, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as an aircraft engine mechanic. In August of 1954, he married the love of his life, Lou Ramsdell. Together they raised their family in Eastport where Buddy was a supervisor at the Guilford Mill. After Buddy and Lou retired, they enjoyed going on cruises and spending time with their families.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by his beloved wife Lou Urquhart; brother Gary Urquhart; step-brothers George and Horace Lyon; and sister-in-law Jeanette Harris. Surviving are his two children, Glynn Urquhart and wife Toby, and Tari Camick and husband Richard, all of Eastport; grandchildren, Evan Stinson and wife Mandi Thomas, Aaron Urquhart and wife Mary Ann, David Baine and companion Mary Pelletier, Clifton Urquhart, and Lyndsey Violette and husband Lucas; great-grandchildren, Kate Stinson, William Urquhart and companion Natasha Nicholson, Chandler Baine, and Clara Violette; a great-great grandchild, Liam Urquhart; his sister Lorraine Olson and husband Robert; sister-in-law Sandy Lyon; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial was held at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Donations in Buddy’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
