Wilma Anita “Billie” Parks, age 79, passed away peacefully on September29, 2024, at Marshall’s Healthcare in Machias. Born on June 19, 1945, in Calais, Billie was the cherished daughter of Earl and Flossie (Bridges) Bartlett.
A proud graduate of Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1963, Billie embarked on a beautiful journey of love when she married Thomas R. Parks on December 9, 1963. This devoted partnership spanned 60 wonderful years. They initially made their home in Connecticut, where Billie lent her skills on the assembly line at International Silver. However, in 1969, the couple returned to Calais, embracing the charm of small-town life as they raised their family with love and care.
Throughout her life, Billie was known for her remarkable work ethic and friendly spirit. She contributed to various local entities including the Maine Tourism Association, Department of Motor Vehicles, Mingo Evergreen, and W.T. Grants. Her community engagement extended beyond her jobs; she was a valued member of the St. Croix Bowling Club and the St. Croix No. 1 Firehouse Restoration. A lover of dance, she found great joy in line dancing and cherished moments spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Earl, and Ralph, and two sisters, Dorothy and Ellen. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas; their two children, Anita Kizziar and husband Kirk of St. Stephen, NB, and Thomas Parks and wife Stephanie of Calais; as well as four grandchildren: Kyle Kizziar of St. Stephen, NB, Kendra Fowler and husband Cam of Hermon, Gavin Parks of Orono, and Madyson Parks of Calais. Billie also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Kolter and Mara, along with her loving sisters, Gertrude Johnston of Calais and Lillian Tracy of St. Stephen, NB, and sister-in-law Evelyn Sampson of Saint Andrews, NB, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Billie's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Though she will be greatly missed, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
In keeping with Billie’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home.
