Calais – Yvonne E. McIninch, 76, joined her husband in heaven on Friday, December 2, 2016 with her family by her side at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Yvonne was born at her parent’s farm on Maxwell Crossing Road in Old Ridge, NB, on May 7, 1940, daughter of the late Allan and Annie (Hatt) Whirty. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert E. McIninch; a son Robbie A. McIninch; and a grandson Danny R. Pinney.
Yvonne’s passing leaves sadness, sorrow and happy memories to those she leaves behind. Surviving are her son Daniel W. McIninch of Pembroke; daughter Cindy L. Wartman and husband Buck P. Wartman of Calais; two grandsons, Cory A. Cavanagh and his son Adam of Bangor, and Sean R. Cavanagh and companion Jacqueline Eary of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; two great-grandsons, Alex and James Pinney; two sisters, Beatrice Jones of Leduc, AB, and Mary Lou McDonald of Moncton, NB; a brother-in-law Donnie McIninch and wife Cheryl of Windsor, ON; two sisters-in-law, Helen Mitchell of Windsor, ON, and Elaine MacKinnon and husband Elwyn of Hamilton, ON; and many nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed caring for her family. Along with her husband and son Daniel, they created and operated a very successful construction company, Down East Paving, which they operated for over 25 years. She enjoyed cooking her “world famous” chocolate chip cookies, sewing, going to craft fairs with her daughter Cindy, and spending time with her family. After her husband’s death from Alzheimer’s, Yvonne took on the challenge of helping others battling this disease by making beautiful fleece tied blankets, along with making her cookies. Yvonne used these to bring some happiness to those affected by this terrible disease. As many people in town know, when you stopped by to see Bob or Yvonne for business or pleasure you never left hungry, thanks to Yvonne’s wonderful cooking. May she find peace and happiness again now that she was been reunited with her beloved husband and best friend of 54 years, Bob.
A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Second Baptist Church, 21 Church St., Calais. Donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. A burial will take place at the Old Ridge Cemetery, Old Ridge, NB, in the spring.
