Calais – Zita Leona Wing, 77, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Zita was born in West Arichat, NS on August 11, 1937, daughter of the late Edmund and Dorilda (Forgeron) Doiron. She worked for Sunrise Opportunities, Walmart in Calais at the jewelry counter, and most recently at Washington Place. Zita loved to cook and shop, especially for shoes. She always had time to listen and always had a shoulder to lean on. Zita was the most selfless and giving person, especially when it came to her family. She enjoyed visits from her family and could always be counted on for having a stash of Hershey’s chocolate bars.
Zita’s family was the most important thing in her life. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them more than anything in this world and was so happy when she was able to be there for the birth of her great-grandson Mason.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Jean in infancy. Surviving are her three children, daughters Sonja (Wing) Libby and her husband Darren of Calais, Jane Yhard and husband Wayne of Halifax, NS, and her son Courtney Henry Jr. and his wife Christine of Crawford; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Mingo, Evan Mingo, Alex Henry, Courtney Henry III, Amanda Henwood, and Matthew Lucas; great-grandchildren, Mason, Kaylee, Alyssa, Adam and Chloe; her sister Myrtle (Doiron, Langille) Levesque of Halifax, NS; and her nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Zita’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
